How did this come about? Good question!
Several years back the kids began asking for a puppy. We needed a hypo-allergenic pup (3 out of the 4 of us are allergic), so I began researching dogs.
I looked for adult dog pics because ALL puppies are cute. I came across this breed. The adults were adorable. Not too big, not too small. The average is 11-18lbs. The personalities of both breeds combining are amazing - sweet, loving, smart! I was IN!
I began looking for a local breeder and had NO luck. The closest was western Ohio. So, we decided to fill that gap! We spent a good one-and-a-half years researching and studying all about breeding before we began. We had only planned to do a couple litters a year, but we fell in love with the process - everything about it.
Now, it's a full family affair. It's truly a labor of love.
Both the kids are in college now and not as involved (they have lives too), but my hubby and I continue to absolutely love this.
Our son Noah is away at school, but is all hands on deck when he's home for breaks. Kenzie stayed home for school and helps out quite a bit. In fact, when not working on school work, you can typically find her hanging in the dog room (our living room/dining room is set up as a second family room). She's also quite skilled in helping with the whelping (delivering) of pups. We're very thankful for that.
When my husband Dave isn't at work, he's all-in with the adult dogs and the puppies. They really are a stress-reliever. Our hope and dream would be for Dave to retire some day and we do this together full time.
